Parametrization based methods have recently become very popularrnfor the generation of high quality quad meshes. In contrast to previousrnapproaches, they allow for intuitive user control in order tornaccommodate all kinds of application driven constraints and designrnintentions. A major obstacle in practice, however, are the relativelyrnlong computations that lead to response times of several minutesrnalready for input models of moderate complexity. In this paper wernintroduce a novel strategy to handle highly complex input meshesrnwith up to several millions of triangles such that quad meshes canrnstill be created and edited within an interactive workflow. Ourrnmethod is based on representing the input model on different levelsrnof resolution with a mechanism to propagate parametrizations fromrncoarser to finer levels. The major challenge is to guarantee consistentrnparametrizations even in the presence of charts, transitionrnfunctions, and singularities. Moreover, the remaining degrees ofrnfreedom on coarser levels of resolution have to be chosen carefullyrnin order to still achieve low distortion parametrizations. We demonstraterna prototypic system where the user can interactively edit quadrnmeshes with powerful high-level operations such as guiding constraints,rnsingularity repositioning, and singularity connections.
