The authors have presented an interesting work and provided valuable information on the punching shear behavior of HPFRCC slabs subjected to a concentrated load. To assess the actual effect of fiber reinforcement on punching capacity, and given that the design models for both plain and fiber concrete slabs reported in Reference 25 seem to be reliable predictors, the discussers compared the experimental failure load of each fiber concrete slab with the predicted load of the corresponding identical plain concrete slab. Thus, the effect of the presence of fibers is shown in the following.
