Structural Behavior of Simply Supported Beams Cast with Hemp-Reinforced Concrete

摘要

Cement-based matrixes have developed considerably during last 50 years. The main components are still portland cement and coarse and fine aggregate, and there are several other components: high-range water-reducing admixtures (HRWRA) and microfillers. The highlight point of the reported work is that a sustainable green concrete material is developed by replacing some coarse aggregate with the natural hemp fibers while the performance of the concrete is also improved. The advantage of using fiber-reinforced concrete (FRC) can be identified in many applications (Brandt 2008). The discussers suggest the authors emphasize the sustainability aspect of using hemp fibers in concrete. Some findings are also interesting to the discussers; however, they are not well-clarified and are worthy of further discussion.
