摘要

Compressive membrane action arising from the lateral restraint in a prestressed concrete (PC) bridge deck is found capable of enhancing the bearing capacity of bridge deck under static testing. It would also contribute to the fatigue strength of the bridge deck under dynamic loads for such existing bridges. To assess the compressive membrane action of the slab-between-girder bridges and hence to determine whether those bridges still possess adequate security and serviceability are important in evaluation of the existing PC bridges. The original paper presents an experimental study on compressive membrane action of transversely prestressed concrete decks under repeated loads. The discussers appreciate the authors' comprehensive works and would like to contribute to the topic by addressing the following comments.
