Uncertainty of measurement is increasingly coming under scrutiny by accreditation bodies such as UKAS, which now often requires a verifiable statement of uncertainty. It has always been the objective of the Society of Environmental Engineers to help its members deal with technical issues which affect them directly. Uncertainty of Measurement is one such issue. Many people who use environmental test equipment are not sure about the concept of Uncertainty of Measurement (UoM) and how it applies to what they do.
