Finite Elements - Analysis or virtual testing

One of the most important strands of interest within the Society of Environmental Engineers has always been the role of, and best practice in, test in engineering. Part of our interest has been to increase the profile of the test function in companies especially where there has been a view that test is an expensive luxury. With the continual intensification of competition there has been some acceptance that to ensure the quality necessary to compete, a planned programme of testing is an essential element in product development. But there is also an awareness that testing can be an expensive element within the product development programme.
