摘要

Materials traditionally used in the automotive industry such as: steel, aluminium and their alloys have well documented YM tables. Most of this documentation is for the static of quasi-static loading case. Dynamically loading a material will create a different loading case and consequently an alternative YM value. In the cases of foam or composite materials YM values will vary with a non-linear relationship to the velocity of the loading event. Due to the complexity of the mathematics involved in calculating the dynamic YM of metal or composite materials, many engineers work only with the static material properties and at the maximum load carrying capability of a structure or system. The dynamic case by and large, has been ignored completely.
