The Automotive EMC Directive

The Automotive EMC Directive, 95/54/EC, came into force on 1st January 1996 as an amending directive to 72/245/EEC, which has been in force since 1972. A Type Approval Directive, 95/54/EC sets out specific limits for the safe operation of complete vehicles and electrical sub-assemblies with respect to electromagnetic fields. Previously, 72/245/EEC only covered radiated emissions from spark ignition systems.
