Easily Change Application Configurations Using INI Files

Sometimes, you might find a reason to store metadata (data about the application) external to the database itself. Sure, I store my data in tables — mostly. However, sometimes it's more convenient to store certain data in another location external to the application. Windows INI files are an excellent location for a surprising amount of data and, by using some Windows API calls, easy to access. For instance, I find that INI files are a great place to store the data that tells you where to find your tables.
