Pad Microsoft Access Text Values

Microsoft Access treats text and numeric values differently — as it should. This hits you the hardest in the area of formatting. You simply can't use the same formatting tools to format both text and numeric values. For instance, adding leading zeroes, or otherwise padding a value, is a good example of how Access requires you to use different solutions for numeric and text values. Access doesn't require that you pad values, but sometimes business rules do. You might have to maintain a series of work or purchase order numbers. Or, another program that shares the data in your database might have formatting requirements that Access doesn't.
