Depending on built-in features that don't work the way you expect is annoying. Access' conditional formatting is just such a feature. Specifically, if you use conditional formatting with a bound control, it works well. If you use it with an unbound control, you might get a surprise. So that leaves you with a dilemma: How do you apply conditional formats to an unbound control? In this article, we'll show you the potential for trouble if you try to use the built-in conditional formatting feature with an unbound control. Then, we'll supply some Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code you can use with those unbound controls to work around the conditional formatting limitations.
