Create Multi-Select Checklist Forms for Better Processing

Access' built-in functionality will take you only so far before you need to take control. Figure 1 shows a query that joins the Orders and Order Detail tables in the Northwind database. When a user tabs to the ProductID field, a drop down list of Products appears, letting the user select a Product. But what if your user wants to select more than one product? Most Access developers will use a list box that has its Multi Select property set to Extended, but there are numerous problems with this approach. First, how do your users know they can make multiple selections? A multi-select list box looks just the same as a standard single-selection list box. Second, do your users know how to use the Control and Shift keys to make multiple selections? Many users don't and many others lack the fine motor control to make multiple selections reliably.
