Essay: Smart City in Historic Chandigarh, a City Planned by Le Corbusier (Chandigarh, India)

According to a UN survey, the population of India' s urban areas is expected to increase by 440 million between 2014 and 2050, and there is an urgent need to develop infrastructure that can accommodate further population growth. Meanwhile, the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who took office in 2014, has launched a plan to develop 100 smart cities in the country, with smart cities defined as "cities that deploy advanced technologies for user-friendly, publicly accessible infrastructure, and sustainably facilitate high standards of living."
