BackgroundHyperuricemia frequently complicates cyclosporine (CsA) therapy. Previous studies have shown that hyperuricemia exacerbates interstitial and vascular lesions in the cyclosporine model. We tested the hypothesis that normalization of uric acid could prevent the development of cyclosporine toxicity.
