Choosing Sides. Assigning Laterality as an Attribute in SNOMED® CT

A defining attribute must be true not only for the concept it defines, but also for all of that concept's subtypes (descendants). Laterality is used to designate one or both of paired, bilaterally symmetrical (or nearly symmetrical) body structures. Values for laterality include right, left, bilateral and unilateral.
