XI. Quality Assurance and Medical Education: B. Medical Education: Computer Support for Scoring Written Examinations of Patient Management Simulations

The paper describes an interactive program package to score written examinations of patient management problems (PMP). The programs calculate for each student several measures of clinical competency such as proficiency, error of omission, error of commission, etc., and provide several reports which aid the course instructors in ranking and evaluating students, as well as the examinations. The program package provides a complete data management support for several student classes and several PMP examinations. It is written in the American National Standard MUMPS language and implemented on a DEC PDP 11/60 using the ISM-11 operating system.
