Book III: Scientific and Research Applications in Medical Care: A Simple Set of Quantities and Diagrams for a Summary or R-R Interval Values in Cardiac Arrhythmias

A comprehensive analysis, based upon the use of some simple quantities, of R-R interval values in the ECG is presented. The quantities consist of ratios (K-i with i=1,2,3,4) capable of emphasizing diversities between pairs of values coming from closed electrocardiographic cycles.A set of graphics, by which to summarize and to display the considered quantities, is defined too. The set consists of both histograms on logarithmic scales and trends in time of the area of the same histograms (LOG AREA-i with i=1,2,3,4).Thirty minute long traces coming from lead V1 of nine patients in different pathophysiological conditions have been considered.Diversities and similarities existing among shapes of histograms of K-i ratios and trends of LOGAREA-i quantities are discussed.
