Left Atrial Spindle Cell Sarcoma in a 34-Year-Old Woman

class="kwd-title">Keywords: Cardiac tumor, Spindle cell sarcoma, Cardiac sarcoma, Left atrial mass class="head no_bottom_margin" id="sec1title">IntroductionWe report the case of a 34-year-old woman who presented with multiple episodes of hematemesis and left-sided back pain that radiated to her left lower extremity for 3 months. During her diagnostic workup, she was found to have a large, nonmobile mass on the left atrial side affecting mitral valve inflow diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); pathologic examination confirmed high-grade spindle cell malignancy favoring sarcoma. The case is unique in that although there have been advances in imaging techniques, early detection of this tumor is limited because of its varied presentation of symptoms and delay in patient presentation.
