摘要

Here the teaching of grammar will be considered in two contexts:that of the foreign language and that of the mother tongue,but precedence will be given to the former.This is not to imply that the latter is unimportant.However,it is simply a fact that there has been more debate,on an international scale,about grammar in foreign language teaching than about the teaching of grammar in the mother tongue setting,in regard to which there is room for many more contributions.
