二元对立视角下的《了不起的盖茨比》

As a representative novel of the Lost Generation, The Great Gatsby opened the dirty secrets hidden behind the money. This paper mainly interprets the theme, background and protagonist of the novel, from the perspective of binary opposition. The writer Fitzgerald had seen through the brilliance of the Jazz Age, deserihing the traditional nobles＇ moral depravity, hypocrisy, cynicism, apathy, greed and blind pursuit of pleasure; while the New Money g vulgar, flashy, ostentatious extravagance, lack of social grace and taste.%作为“迷惘的一代”的代表作之一，《了不起的盖茨比》揭开了那些隐藏在金钱背后的肮脏秘密。从结构主义二元对立的角度，去解读这部小说的主题、背景以及主角。作者透过爵士乐时代的光华看到传统的名门望族道德堕落、虚伪、玩世不恭、冷漠、贪婪并盲目追求享乐；而新富则粗俗、浮华、铺张卖弄、缺乏社交风度和情趣。
