美国著名作家詹姆斯·费尼莫·库伯被称为“美国小说之父”，他的作品《最后的莫西干人》是其代表作《皮袜子的故事》最为出色的一部。该文从生态批评主义的自然生态和社会生态两方面，对库柏的作品《最后的莫西干人》中的主人公鹰眼进行了细致的分析，其实他并不像人们描述的那样勇敢善良、单纯质朴、见义勇为，甚至是自然道德法则化身的英雄人物，事实上，他是一个人类中心主义价值观的坚持者，他对自然和人都有征服的欲望。作者旨在通过从生态批评主义视阈的解读，从而让读者对鹰眼的人物形象有一个更加全面深刻的认识。%American famous writer James Fenimore Cooper, his work The Last of the Mohicans is one of his most extraordinary works in the Leatherstocking Tales. This paper chooses the main protagonist-Hawkeye in the The Last of the Mohicans to inter-pret from two aspects-natural ecology and social ecology of eco-criticism theory. Hawkeye is not a hero of being brave, kind, simple and even an embodiment of morality rules as described. In reality, he is a supporter of anthropocentrism and has a strong desire to conquer nature and human. The author aims to make us have a more comprehensive and profound realization of the im-age of Hawkeye through the interpretation from the perspective of eco-criticism.
