Cultivating Intercultural Awareness for Non-English Majors——Taking Hubei University of Education for Example

         

摘要

On the basis of the differences between high-context and low-context cultures,the author did a survey in Hubei University of Education on the current condition of non-English majors' awareness.According to the high-context and low-context cultures of Hall' s theory,the writer chooses China and the U.S.as the representatives respectively.The result shows that non-English major' awareness needs improving pressingly on the contextual differences,and having intercultural communication in a success way between high-context and low-context cultures is rather important for English learners.The author expects to give some advices on the ways to cultivate and improve English majors' intercultural communication competence.
