Research should be done on both the universality and individuality of languages.Some early western sinologists and many well-known Chinese linguists have made remarkable statements concerning the features of the Chinese language.However,most of their researches lack an overall and systematic description.Compared with other languages,Chinese is characterized by its long histo-ry,rich literature,complex dialects and frequent language contact.Therefore,in order to gain a pro-found understanding of its features,we must concentrate on making a thorough comparison between ancient and modern,northern and southern,interior and exterior features on the pronunciation,vo-cabulary,grammar as well as culture.This paper lists a few issues which are in need of profound re-search and points out the theoretical significance and the application value of these researches.%语言的共性和个性都应该研究。关于汉语的个性特征的研究，早期的西方汉学家和中国许多语言学大师都已经有过精辟的论述，但多局限于个别特征的考察，缺乏全面系统的表述。汉语和其他语言相比，特点突出，加上历史长、文献多，方言复杂、语言接触频繁，亟须集中合力，进行语音、词汇、语法及文化的古今、南北、内外的全面比较，深入理解其特征。文章列举了若干有待深入探讨的课题，并指出研究这些特征的理论意义和应用价值。
