By historical study of developing library social education this paper explores the formation and evolution of the library social education function in different historical periods. The development of library social education function of the time is also discussed.%通过对图书馆开展社会教育的历史考察，探寻不同历史时期图书馆社会教育职能的形成及演变脉络，最后讨论图书馆社会教育职能在当代的发展。
