夹缝中的生存--《德伯家的苔丝》生存空间的生态解读

摘要

本文从《德伯家的苔丝》中苔丝的生存空间入手，分析苔丝生命历程中的几个阶段及其生存空间；从生态批评的视角，重新审视苔丝悲剧的根源，既看到苔丝生存空间的逼仄﹑艰难与窘迫，也看到她生存的自然空间受到工业文明和科技文明的入侵和破坏；反思现代工业文明对自然的冲击﹑入侵乃至毁坏，以及现代文明对人类自身生存的影响和破坏，对维护和修复人类自身及生态的平衡有很大的启示。%Focusing on Tess’s living space in “Tess of the D’Urbervilles”, this paper analyzes several stages of Tess’s experience and her living space and re-examines the root causes of Tess’s tragedy from the perspective of ecological criticism. Tess not only suffered from a narrow and difficult living space, but also a natural space that was invaded and ruined by industrial civilization and technological civilization. Thus, with a reflection on the de-struction and negative impact of the modern industrial civilization on nature and human beings, the novel provides great deal of enlightenment for maintaining and repairing the ecological balance as well as human beings.
