The paper puts forward a method of bringing abou t the visit to simple variables in MIB based on SNMP. The corresponding system N MSS is the client software on HP-UX of the HP9000/715 workstation. The visit to MIB,or NMSS makes it possible to collect dynamically statistic data in MIB of a ll kinds of network devices according to the demands of users,so the manager can know the random states of every layer in the network clearly and realize furthe r many functions of network management.
