The public servants originally refers to the servants of public, who serve the public. The public servants are the civilian staff who, representing the state, engage in management of social and public affairs, exercise the state power, and perform public functions of the state. The consciousness of public servants was originally consciousness of selfless dedication and selfless service and those who have this consciousness ,because of the position and appointed duties, should regard the interests of the people as its own duty, give the last measure of devotion for the interests of the people. In real life, however, some party members and cadres who lack consciousness of public service become serv- ants of the right, of the officials and of money and private servants, which seriously affects the partyr s governing image. This results from the thought of ＂valuing official titles＂, cognitive deviation of consciousness of public servants , poor awareness of the master identity, the mechanism of official ap- pointment involving personal relationship, etc.. We can restore the consciousness of public servants from the following aspects： correcting the misunderstanding of public servants, safeguarding peoplers dignity, reforming the mechanism of cadres appointment, as well as sticking to the leading role of so- cialist core value system in shaping the consciousness of public servants.%公仆原是指公众的仆人,比喻替公众服务的人,是人民的勤务员,指代表国家从事社会公共事务管理、行使国家权力、履行国家公务的文职人员。公仆意识是指因其岗位和职责所定、视人民利益为己任、为人民利益鞠躬尽瘁的无私奉献意识和无私服务意识。然而在现实生活中,有些党员干部公仆意识缺失,＂人民公仆＂沦为＂权仆＂、＂官仆＂、＂私仆＂和＂钱仆＂等,严重影响了党的执政形象。究其原因,主要是由官本位思想根深蒂固、公仆意识认知偏差、＂主人＂地位认识淡漠、官员任用机制关系化等方面所造成,需要从端正对＂公仆＂的认知、维护人民的尊严、改革干部任用机制以及社会主义核心价值体系在塑造公仆意识中的引领作用等方面入手,加快重塑公仆意识的进程。
