In this paper, by applying the canonical correlation decomposition of the matrix pair and the full rank decomposition of the matrix A, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the validity of the rank subtractivity formula rank(A -AN(MTAN)-MTA) =rank(A) -rank(AN(MTAN) -MTA).%借助于矩阵对的标准相关分解( canonical correlation decomposition )及矩阵A的满秩分解,得到了秩等式rank(A -AN(MTAN)-MTA)=rank(A)-rank(AN(MTAN)-MTA)成立的一个充分必要条件。
