:In this article the author holds that changingthe gender relations in society was one of themajor demands raised in the May 4th movement,That later on the gender issue was repeatedlyimpacted, to the point of being used as a claptrapto court public favor. Taking the change of thedrama A Doll’s House as an example, the authorseeks to demonstrate that the gender issue hasalways been at the core of the manifold conflictsbetween the sexes, ethnic groups and classes.
