With the rapid development of Internet.XML has been accpted widely and has become a pop topic of study and application.XML specification is sample,but its theory is profound,its system is complicated and lost of specifications are correlative with XML.An overview of XML''''s development and characteristics are given in the paper.In allusion to complexity of the system,authors summarize the XML system architecure,class the XML foundation specifications and discuss their relation.Some questions are list in the end of paper.
