Dysregulation of neuroinflammatory responses has been implicated in a number of disease conditions, including neurodegeneration, stroke, and encephalitis, but to date there is no non-steroidal anti-neuroinflammatory which has been shown to be of sufficient efficacy for clinical use. In my talk, I will overview the research performed by us and others on the potential use of andrographolide,a bioactive labdane diterpenoid derived from the herb Andrographis panuculata as a neuro-inflammatory.Furthre-more,I will also review the current knowledge about andrographolide′s putative molecular mechanisms of action, research gaps,as well as future work which are aimed at increasing the compound′s efficacy and potential clinical utility.
