The 18-electron dithiolato carborane complexes Cp*Rh(L)S2C2(B10H10) (L=4-(chloromethyl) pyridine (2a),4-(methylthiomethyl) pyridine (2b)) were synthesized from the 16e half-sandwich rhodium complexe [Cp*Rh(L)S2C2(B10H10)] and pyridine derivatives (L) at room temperature. The complexes have been fully characterized by their IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy,as well as elemental analysis. The molecular structures of 2a and 2b were established through X-ray crystal structure analysis.
