PetroChina Faces Challenge from Domestic Petrochemical Sector

@@ With China's entry into World Trade Organization,PetroChina is facing the unprecedented severe challenge from its domestic counterparts in the chemicals sector, where PetroChina is relatively weak in the production scale and facilities. One of the key issues for PetroChina to solve urgently to reinforce its profit-making capability rapidly is to boost the competitiveness of its ethylene facilities.Currently, PetroChina has seven sets of ethylene units with a total annual production capacity of 1.65 million tons. The units are usually small in the scale except for those at Jilin Petrochemical Company and Daqing Petrochemical Company.
