The Arctic LNG2 project is located in the Arctic Circle,west of the Gydan Peninsula,Russia.It has natural gas reserves of nearly 2 trillion cubic meters and gas condensate reserves of 99 million tons.Three LNG liquefaction trains at 6.6 mtpa each for the total LNG capacity of 19.8 mtpa as well as cumulative gas condensate production capacity of 1.6 mtpa are scheduled to be completed and put into operation between 2023 and 2026.Novatek(Russia’s largest independent natural gas producer)owns a 60%stake,and each of CNPC,CNOOC,and JAPAN Arctic LNG(“JAPAN Arctic”,a consortium of Mitsui and JOGMEC)owns a 10%stake in the project.The project is the world’s first LNG project using GBS and modular construction built offshore in the polar region。
