Based on summarizing the history of the measuring instruments' development, analyzing the technical features of the computerized measuring instruments, and pointing out the new demands of the measuring instruments because of the present trends of the large scale, real-time, diverse measurements, for the advancement and versatility of the Cloud Computing architecture, the concept of Instrument Cloud has been presented. After expounding the technical basis, features and advantages of the Instrument Cloud, the authors also point out the basic requirement and deployment patterns on construction of the Instrument Cloud and propose the basic architecture of the Instruments Cloud.
