In order to introduce the propargyl groups to the side chains of biodegradable polyester which available for the attachment of functionality using "click" chemistry, the propargyl glycolide(PG) monomer was synthesized and characterized by FTIR and 13C NMR. Then, a series of PLGA-PEG-PLGA tri-block copoly-mers with side propargyl groups was prepared by bulk ring-opening copolymerization of L-lactide and propargyl glycolide using 1,4-dimethylaminopyridine( DMAP) as a catalyst and polyethylene glycol(PEG) as a cointia-tor with different feed ratios(nPEC : nPG: nL-LA). The structure and properties of the PLGA-PEG-PLGA tri-block copolymers with side propargyl groups were studied by FTIR, 1H NMR and gel permeation chromatography.
