DME car will get wider applications because of its ultra-low emission. This paper introduces DME＇s physical and chemical characteristics, source and its applications on diesel engines. This paper tells us the drawbacks of DME, including high evaporation pressure, low calorific value and low viscosity as well as its improvement methods and its development tendency. As the alternative fuel used in automotive field, DME has a lot of advantages and relevant authorities should support the environmental protection fuel technologically and financially.
