Molecular-Genetic and Immunological Biomarkers in Medical Genetic Counselling of Families with Infertility =Молекулярно-Генетични И Имунологични Биомаркери При Медико-Генетичното Консултиране На Семейства с Инфертилитет

Infertility is a global, socially significant problem with great clinical and genetic heterogeneity. In many cases, it is impossible to establish the reason for the lack of pregnancy or the recurrent spontaneous miscarriages. The molecular-genetic and immunological biomarkers used in the present research give the opportunity to better evaluate the causes for infertility. The study was prospective and was conducted in the Laboratory of Medical Genetics in University hospital St Marina Varna between November 2018 and June 2020. One hundred seventy subjects (100 patients and 70 control subjects) were included in the present research. Including the present molecular-genetic and immunological markers in the routine tests offered to couples with reproductive problems could improve the process of medical genetic counselling because it would allow a more detailed analysis of the causes for recurrent miscarriages and impaired spermatogenesis.
