Human tremors can impair any daily activity, including simple activities such as signing checks or eating food. Formally defined, human tremors are a rhythmic involuntary oscillatory movement of body parts with a relative and fixed frequency and amplitude; the range of frequencies for tremors is between 3 and 15 Hz. The focus of this project was on the design, construction, and testing of a test bed device for generation of simulated human tremor motion in a laboratory setting. This project included both hardware and software design aspects of the test device. The hardware components were integrated to construct a mechanical means to produce the simulated motion. The software components were used for control of the hardware components as well as data acquisition. The result of this project was a device, called the Tremor Simulation Platform (TSP), capable of simulating human tremor motion.; Testing results from the TSP showed successful design and implementation of the test bed device. The device is capable of generating controlled simulated tremor signals and properly designed for data collection and storage. Preliminary results of gathered data from this device have shown encouraging results. Based on the aforementioned statements, the implementation of the TSP was successful. The TSP provides researchers a powerful tool to simulate tremor motion, acquire data from this movement, and store the data for later analysis.
