A tool to improve student achievement in math: An Interactive Whiteboard.

Through a holistic perspective of the review of literature and the Emil Local Schools Study a future researcher created greater opportunities for our students. These opportunities for our students would facilitate them entering into the 21st century and allow no student to be left behind. School districts have used limited resources while struggling to find mechanisms that facilitate meeting the educational needs of all students. Through a quasi-experimental design with the standardized data from Emil Local Schools, this research attempted to find out if the use of an Interactive Whiteboards in an elementary math classrooms in grades three through five, was positively associated with a student's achievement on the Ohio Math Achievement Test. The results indicated that it was statistically significant that the mean of the fifth grade Ohio Achievement Math Test scores were higher for the groups of student that utilized the IAW than the groups that did not use the IAW, adjusting for the fourth Grade Ohio Achievement Math Test and gender. On the contrary in grades three and fourth the null hypotheses failed to be rejected.
