National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers: New Jersey public school teachers' perceptions of practice.

Educational standards have long been used to evaluate schools and provide a framework that would allow for thorough and efficient education. These standards have been developed and implemented in almost all facets of the educational environment, including educational technology. This study was designed to determine if New Jersey teachers' perceptions of their own technology use reflect the National Educational Technology Standards for Teachers (NETS-T). Using quantitative methods, the results demonstrate that New Jersey teachers' perceptions are highly aligned with the NETS-T. Additionally, teacher responses were grouped based on years in education, subject area taught, grade level taught, and district factor grouping designation. Using ANOVAs, these groups were analyzed independently to determine if statistically significant differences existed within each group. Finally, it was determined that a statistically significant increase in score was present if teachers were aware of the existence of the standards, and had read and understood the standards.
