Adaptive characteristics of marine species to global climate change.

In order to survive impacts of global climate change in the marine environment, many marine species will have to adapt. Adaptation is the physical or physiological response that organisms or species populations make in order to survive alterations to their normal ecosystem environment. Response capability, tolerance levels, and reaction times of individual organisms and species populations within global climate change spatial and temporal frames will determine survival rates over both short- and long-term evolutionary scales.;This paper reviews the major physical and biological aspects of global climate change in the marine environment. The research focused on invertebrate, fish, and plant organisms and species that inhabit marine tidal and subtidal zones. Adaptability responses of marine organisms and populations in the tidal and intertidal zones were identified.
