The foreign policies of three major players in Africa: The United States, the European Union, and China.

Africa has long been a forgotten continent, suffering the brutality of slavery and slave trade, colonialism, and consequences of the Cold-War between two blocs. Africa, with huge natural resources, triggered the current competition among three major players in Africa: the United States, the European Union, and China. But what are their real motives behind their current involvement in Africa? Are issues of security and trade playing a role in their engagement in Africa? This thesis attempts to address these issues, with a final chapter to compare and analyze the foreign policies of three major actors in Africa, and which actor's policy could have the chance to succeed in Africa.
