Conscious intimate relationship as a psychospiritual practice.

The purpose of this study was to provide a comprehensive and integrative analysis of the empirical research to date on the topic of conscious intimate relationship as a psychospiritual practice. Whereas there are a number of theoretical articles and qualitative dissertation studies, there is very little professional literature published in the field of psychology. What little professional literature exists on the topic of conscious intimate relationship consists primarily of theoretical articles and qualitative studies with a virtual absence of quantitative research. The purpose of this research study was to conduct a thorough thematic analysis of 10 research studies, in which 3 research questions were explored: (a) Is there a clear, comprehensive term that can be used to name a conscious intimate relationship as a psychospiritual practice? (b) What is the process of developing a conscious intimate relationship? (c) and What are the qualities and characteristics that contribute to cultivating a conscious intimate relationship? This study's thematic analysis generated 9 themes, which ultimately serve as a qualitative meta-analysis of the existing empirical research. These 9 themes are: Establishing a Relationship in Unknown Territory, Relationship as a Psychospiritual Practice Paradigm, Creating a Foundation, Skills and Practices, Love and Connection, Dealing with Challenges Constructively, Growth Gained, Gratitude, and Service.
