Recently, consensus problems have attracted many researchers in different areas of interest such as biological systems, sensor networks, and multi agent coordination. Flocking behavior of multi agent system is one of the problems that can be solved using consensus algorithms. Synchronization of coupled oscillators is a related problem to consensus, which can be achieved by applying a consensus protocol. The focus of this thesis is on the flocking and synchronization problems. A flocking model proposed by Cucker and Smale has been introduced and simulated.;New consensus algorithms are presented to solve the problem of flock formation of multi agent system and the problem of phase synchronization of coupled oscillators. These algorithms are based on the adaptive estimation techniques in which the parameters of the consensus protocols are estimated to achieve convergence and stability of the system.;Different communication graph topologies are used to simulate these algorithms which confirmed the convergence of the agents' velocities in a flock and the phase synchronization of coupled oscillators.
