Information Systems Managers' Attitudes toward Cloud Computing in US Companies

The subsequent advent of a number of technological innovations has resulted in several implications for organizations and research alike. In particular, the field of Information Technology has been a contributor of many innovations, one such being cloud computing. However, the decision to adopt such an innovation has become the central question many organizations pose in terms of the determinants that affect its purpose and use within their infrastructure. As such, the purpose of this quantitative, non-experimental, correlational survey study was to determine what factors are significant in forming the attitudes of IS managers in their decisions regarding the adoption of cloud computing within their organizations. The statistical method of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analyzed the extent to which identified factors in the study correlate with actual attitudes toward cloud computing adoption, as well as with Information Channels Exposure. SEM analyzed the study research model based on conceptual foundation in the perceived behavior and acceptance of technology. The results provided conclusions for definite positive correlation for perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use each with adoption attitudes, and positive correlation for perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived benefits with Information Channels Exposure. However, perceived risks were negatively correlated with Information Channels Exposure, and perceived benefits and perceived risks displayed partial to no correlation with cloud computing adoption attitudes. Thus, the concluded findings implicated potential for future research to expand on adoption attitudes and view the topic of this study from an alternate research methodology.
