The purpose of this project was to develop a conceptual model that explains how absenteeism could be reduced in a work environment. By defining absenteeism, it will be easy to assess the problems created when absenteeism becomes abused in an organizational setting. After the problems are assessed, the causes and influencing factors will be discussed. Creating a model to identify different factors that affect absenteeism and combining how these factors interact will lead to decreasing different factors that cause absenteeism. By decreasing the motives, it will be helpful in the effort to reduce and prevent absenteeism. In this model, the factors will be subdivided. The purpose of creating this model is to assist employers in determining the best way to control a manageable problem. With the use of this model recommended changes and solutions will be available for employers to utilize when faced with absenteeism in the workplace.
