A Christ-follower, and indeed any person, will see positive effects in one's life to the extent that one embraces two key propositions: (1) humans possess a nonphysical soul that is the seat of personhood (consciousness and will) and can survive the death of the body, and (2) neuroscience has provided and will continue to provide an enormous amount of beneficial insights for living a more fruitful life. Conversely, one will see negative results when one rejects or ignores either of these propositions. In sum, the proper appreciation of both the spiritual and physical aspects of our human composition will foster growth in Christlikeness and promote human flourishing in many areas such as moral, psychological, and physical health. To demonstrate this thesis, there is first a review of the writings of contemporary scientists, philosophers, and biblical scholars, along with analysis of several pertinent biblical passages. Following this, the results of a social experiment within a local church that tests the importance of neuroscience and the soul will be presented and analyzed.
