Patient-Family Centered Care: Incorporating Parents' Perspectives, Values, and Beliefs Into This Co-Created Process.

Children are in a unique position as patients as their care and development are dependent upon their caregivers and families. Patient-Family-Centered Care more accurately describes the focus of this care. The purpose of this study was to provide a deeper understanding of what promotes successful relationships between professionals and parents, in the service of excellent health care to infants, children, and adolescents. Perspectives from nine mothers with children who received early intervention services were gleaned through thematic analysis of interviews. Insights for parents and providers that may guide them toward a mutually beneficial, respectful, and reflective parent-health professional relationship were revealed. Findings provide a foundation for further research to better understand this "co-creative process".
