This dissertation explores the impact of remittances on the health and education sectors of developing countries. These nations are characterized by outward migration to developed regions, which acts as a prerequisite for monetary flows from these Diasporas to the migrant-origin countries. Remittances are a stable source of funding which flows directly to households with minimal government intervention. Remittance receipts are used for primarily for consumption, health, education, investment and entrepreneurial purposes.;This dissertation explores the impact of remittances on the health and education sectors of developing countries. Remittance receipts are used for primarily for consumption, health, education, investment and entrepreneurial purposes.;The findings of this dissertation indicate that remittances are a much needed source of funding for households in developing countries. These remittance receipts have a comparable or greater impact than traditional resource flows (such as government spending and aid) on the key health and education sectors of the recipient nations.
